Certified Dyslexia Specialist
Monica Clarke is a Dyslexia Specialist and Partner/CEO of CodeBreakers, LLC. Monica’s journey with dyslexia began in 2009 when her son was diagnosed with dyslexia in the third grade. She began tutoring her son in an Orton-Gillingham-based system and became a certified tutor. In 2011, Monica completed graduate coursework enabling her to screen and identify dyslexia in individuals as young as five. In 2016, Monica partnered with Wright State University to develop a graduate-level Dyslexia Certificate program for teachers and is currently an adjunct professor and director of the Dyslexia Certificate Program. She co-authored a journal article titled Dyslexia and the Need for Teacher Training: A Collaborative Three-Pronged Approach between a University and a Community Partner. For the past several years, she has presented at numerous conferences on the topic of dyslexia. She continues to work with local school districts to provide professional development for dyslexia. Monica has Masters Level professional certification in the Barton Reading and Spelling System and through The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI), an affiliate of the International Dyslexia Association, as a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist. Monica has a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Tulsa and an M.Ed. in Intervention Specialist from Wright State University.

Certified Dyslexia Specialist
Lori Steiner-Jans became a partner in CodeBreakers, LLC, at the beginning of 2021 and has worked with CodeBreakers since 2015.
Lori has a B.A. in Elementary Education from Goshen College with a minor in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). For 22 years, Lori taught students from preschool to sixth grade in the school setting. She completed the Dyslexia Certificate from Wright State University and the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education’s Comprehensive Orton-Gillingham training. For several years, she has presented at conferences to increase education and awareness of dyslexia. She is also trained in Handwriting Without Tears, Stern Math, and TouchMath learning programs. Lori is currently pursuing training in math assessment and multimodal math interventions, which will allow her to determine if students are at risk for dyscalculia and provide appropriate math interventions for these students. She continues to be involved in conducting professional development for dyslexia in local school districts. Lori has Advanced Level professional certification in the Barton Reading and Spelling System and through The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI), an affiliate of the International Dyslexia Association, as a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist.
Certified Dyslexia Specialist
Krista has been the Title 1 teacher for Milton-Union Elementary since 1997. Her wonderful bulldog, Sarge, stars in his own e-book on PBSLearningmedia.org as part of a kindergarten REACH lesson, “Good Dogs”! Her focus has always been the struggling learner. She graduated from The Ohio University with her B.A. in Education and holds a Reading Endorsement on her teaching license. Krista earned her M.Ed. Literacy Specialist from the University of Dayton and has completed both the Multi-Sensory Education’s Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive Training and the Dyslexia Certificate program at Wright State University. Krista has professional certification in the Barton Reading and Spelling System and through The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI), an affiliate of the International Dyslexia Association, as a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist.
Certified Dyslexia Interventionist
Karen is currently the Special Education Supervisor for Northridge Local School District. During her time at Northridge, Karen has participated in over 18 hours of professional development in LETRS training, acquiring a deep understanding of scientifically-based reading instruction skills fundamental to teaching reading. Karen has also completed both the Comprehensive and Intermediate levels at the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education’s Orton-Gillingham Trainings. Karen has a BA in Elementary Education from Harding University and her Intervention Specialist Licensure training from Wright State University, where she completed the Dyslexia Certificate program in 2018. Karen has professional certification in both the Barton Reading and Spelling System and through The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI), an affiliate of the International Dyslexia Association, as a Structured Literacy Interventionist.
Interventionist
Tracy is a recently retired, certified teacher who taught at Milton-Union schools for thirty-two years. During her teaching career, she taught fifth, fourth, and third grade for the eight years preceding her retirement. She earned her B.A. in Elementary Education and Master's in Education from the University of Dayton. Since 2018, Tracy has been developing her knowledge of the Science of Reading and its impact on classroom instruction. She has completed over 60 hours of Orton-Gillingham training and a year-long LETRS training. Tracy’s love of students and teaching extends through her love of golf. She is currently involved in the LPGA Amateurs Golf Association as a coordinator and an assistant coach of Tipp City’s HS Girls Golf team. She has volunteered the past two summers as a Special Olympics golf mentor. Her continuing passion for teaching students has led her to join our CodeBreakers team!
Interventionist
Erica holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of Dayton. Her professional experience encompasses diverse educational environments, including roles as a third-grade teacher and science coordinator in Colorado and as a home educator for her own children. Her homeschool philosophy went beyond traditional boundaries, turning the “if only” possibilities she imagined as a classroom teacher into reality. Volunteerism and community engagement became pathways to immersive learning, adding layers of experiential and hands-on learning to the educational journey. Her holistic approach to education created a learning experience that moved at each child’s pace and toward mastery. Erica was the founder and coordinator of Brain Trust, a co-op homeschooling program for art and physical education that operated until 2018, and is the current co-owner of Bee Natural Apiary. She is currently training to deepen her knowledge about dyslexia and multimodal structured language teaching.
